Go Katie Girl!

Last night was the last night of the inaugural season of the WPS Middle School Softball team!!! The girls won again and ended the season at 6-2. The WPS girls tallied a total of 103 runs in their eight games and held their opponents to 42 runs. Katie struck out two out of every three outs, in recording a season strike-out total of 61. We are a young team with only 2 8th graders!! So excited to see these girls grow and play next year!!

Back to the Beach

Casey and Katie hit the beach this past weekend!! Behind our club, there are a bunch of beach courts!! Now that we are getting more knowledgeable in the sport of volleyball, we have found out that beach is important to developing their indoor skills. Loved these pictures. They were going to play in the finals until a big storm cancelled the finals!! She has a tourney at Disney this weekend and then the big tournament in Atlanta over Easter weekend.

Greek Day

Matthew's class has been studying ancient Greece. Yesterday they had a Greek Day complete with an Olympics. Will and Mom went to cheer him on. They had the javelin throw, frisbee (discus) toss, shotput (beach ball filled with weights), egg race and water jug race. It was such a beautiful day (FINALLY!).

Shiver Me Timbers

Today is pirate day in PreK4. Julia looked like one cute pirate ... check out her fancy boots and her own parrot. They go on a treasure hunt .... this is X week!! I hope she finds the treasure.

Getting excited for Toy Story Mania!!

Took Moo and Jules out of school today and we did Hollywood Studios. Was busy but we got an early start and had a BLAST!!! So fun to see Disney through the little kids' eyes. We watched the parade, did Toy Story twice and just walked around and enjoyed the wonderful weather.

Pathfinder: Final Day

Katie got to go canoeing on her final day at Pathfinder. This was her favorite part of the trip by far!!! So glad that she is home but even more happy that she had a fabulous time!!!

Andrew's trip is coming to and end. Today is their last day (mostly travel!). Yesterday they did a scavenger hunt, IMAX movie, shopping, and then some line dancing.

Pathfinder: Day Two

Day two of Katie's trip sounded really fun!! They decorated their own drums and did a drumming circle. Broke up into groups and had to try to construct a boat that would float holding 2 people and did a Ropes course and tree climbing. They ended with a fun dance party ... love the look of Katie's face ... priceless!!

Go West: Day Three

Looks like they had a blast on day three. They went on these large boats down the Colorado River, picnicked, hiked, and even saw a endangered California condor!! Talked to Andrew briefly and sounds like they are having the time of their lives!! The teachers have posted over 550 pictures and I love looking at all the kids!! Miss him but so happy for this experience!!

Katie left for St Pete today for three days of team building, camping and super fun!!! It is called Pathfinder: Engage, Challenge, Transform. She was super excited and so fun packing and getting all her things lined up!! She had already called and texted me more in 1/2 a day than Andrew has the whole week!! Called late last night to tell me how amazing the food was (Shephards pie for lunch and Thanksgiving dinner!). She sounded tired last night ...

St. Patty's Day

I only have three little leprechauns with me today .... here is Moo and Jules off to school all festive!! William slept in today and is not feeling great. He is still in his jammies at 1:40!! Corned beef and cabbage in the crock pot ... making green whipped frosting for our St. Patty's Day cake!!

The kids had an amazing day on Tuesday. They got to see the Grand Canyon for the first time ... they actually blindfold the kids and then they all unveiled at the same time. Andrew told me it was amazing and awesome. He is the only one in our family that has been there!!!

They hiked the rim of the South Kaibab Trail and some of the kids saw snow for the first time. The ended the day with some rock climbing.

My friend Meg sent me this picture of her son Ryan and William today at school. So adorable and starting to see some of Matthew in William. That is definitely a Moo face!

Go West: Day One

Andrew left for his class trip to the Grand Canyon yesterday EARLY morning. I dropped him off at the airport at 4:45 am ("Please Mom ... don't come in, just drop me off!). So I did just that. So excited to see him off and so happy ... but a little bittersweet how fast these years go.

The teachers are posting pictures each day. Very cool to be able to see the kids!! They are all very happy. Andrew is the one in the Sedona pictures in the red tshirt and black track pants. He called last night and the first things he told me was everything that he ate throughout the day. Then he got to the hiking and biking!! Looking forward to seeing what today brings for them.

Personal Best

I completed my 2nd half marathon last week. The weather was PERFECT and I had a really good race. I was worried about this one since I was so geared up for the first one in January with my sisters. A couple of pluses this time: 1) There was no sleet, snow and 3 layers were not needed 2) I moved from the last corral to the 2nd which allowed me to get to my pace right away 3) There were no walkers around so it was easy to navigate 4) It was an all woman's race which was not only empowering but inspiring!!

So ... you know me. All about results. My goal was to run a 2:10 which would be a 10 minute per mile pace. I had trained at this pace but did not know if I would be able to hit it. After 9 miles I realized that the goal was within reach and if I continued to push it, I might be able to break 2 hours.

Well around 10 1/2, my foot really started to kill and I had to stop at the med tent to have some biofreeze applied, but I pushed through and finished in 2:04 chip time (2:00 exactly on my watch because I stopped the time while I was in the med tent). Needless to say I was really pleased and proud. I think I have the running bug. Actually running a 10K tomorrow morning with a friend.

No Hitter

Kate threw a no hitter on Monday. I didn't take a single picture because I was keeping the book!! She had 10 Ks and threw very few balls. So proud of her determination and competitive spirit!!! Can't wait to see this team next year .. they are so young and doing GREAT!!

Today William and I went to into Julia's classroom for Green Eggs and Ham. Julia was excited for us to bring in the supplies!! William is so good in the classroom sometimes I forget he is 2! He kind of fits in with the kids. We didn't stay long but it is always good to be in the kids' classrooms!! I took some pictures of her Cat in the Hat art. We might have one kid that has some artistic ability!!
