Weekend Update

Another busy Saturday -- take a look at the photos below to see some highlights of our day. We started today with Challenger. Andrew and Katie had a blast. Sean's team is really starting to hit the ball. Right after Challenger, Matthew had a game on the same field. He had a great hit his first time at bat (unfortunately Mom and the little ones were taking Andrew to Kissimmee for his football game). Mom made it back in time to watch the last 2 innings. Then back to Kissimmee to see Andrew's game. His team won and now are 5 - 1. He had a great sack!! Sean had to speak at Mass -- he is the head of the finance committee and gave a talk about the financial position of the church. He has to speak at 8 and 10 again tomorrow. Katie is off at yet another birthday sleepover - definitely the most social of the Kane bunch!!!

Another Busy Weekend

The weekends are crazy here in the Kane house. No rest for us on the weekends. Saturday morning started bright and early with the Challenger baseball game. Challenger baseball is a division of Little League for children with physical and mental disabilities. Sean is a head coach for the Challenger Astros. He does an amazing job teaching them baseball!!! Each Challenger athlete has a buddy (kids from our Little League) that help the athletes. Both Andrew and Katie are Challenger Buddies. This is Andrew's second season with Brandon (see picture from last season) and Katie is helping Rachel (an adorable little girl!) I will post pictures of them next week.

After Challenger, we moved right into Matthew's first Machine Pitch game. Sean is the manager of this team as well (and Katie's softball team that had their first game this past Thursday). Matthew had a great single and fielded a ball cleanly at 2nd base and went home with it to get the lead runner.

After the Machine Pitch game, Sean jumped in the car and headed to Haines City to watch Andrew's tackle football game. Mom and the rest of Team Kane choose to stay home (Will had had enough field time for one day!). Andrew's team lost 28 - 6 - their first loss of the season. They got home just in time for Sean to shower and take Katie to see the Broadway production of Annie downtown Orlando. I think Sean must win the Dad of the Year Award!!

Sunday was quieter with Mass, grocery shopping, pitching lesson, birthday party and dinner out at the Tavern. Andrew went with his friend Brandon to the Bucs game in Tampa.

Fun Friday

Matthew and Katie did not have school today because it was Parent/Teacher Conferences. Mom had 2 wonderful conferences with their teachers and then we took a quick visit to the Book Fair. Julia and Matthew stayed with Mrs. Robbins and had a blast playing tons of games, the drums, cowboys and legos!!

Mom did a short photo shoot with William. Check out his custom onesie with his name embroidered on it. Very stylish - a great gift from one of Sean's co-workers, Stephanie. Helps Mom to remember his name. Poor guy is always called everyone else's name but his. We have to drive back to WPS in a bit to pick up Andrew who had school today!! He was bummed that the younger ones had a free day. We are just chilling at home (a rarity for us!)

Julia's Kindermusik Class

Julia started Kindermusik this semester and really likes it. It is so funny to watch her in a group of kids because she is so serious!! She hardly ever smiles while she is at the class. She talks about it all week, but it is all business when she gets there. Her best friend, Lauren, is in the class with her. We practice the songs all week together at home. I think Julia feels like a big girl now that she has her own activities. Her favorite part of the class it the Ring Around the Rosey and the Scarf dance!!

William is really starting to smile for us. It is a contest to see who can get him to smile the biggest. Look at the first picture, not too smiley!! He is growing so fast and continues to amaze us with his nighttime sleeping. He has slept 10 hours for the past two nights!! Makes for a much happier, rested Mommy and Daddy.

A Rare Night at the Park

A RARE NIGHT AT THE PARK

We were surprised when we looked at our calendar on Monday that we only have ONE activity (Katie's piano lesson!). We hurried through dinner to get some PARK TIME. Julia and Mom played at the park, while Dad, Matthew and Andrew played dodge ball in the soccer field. Then the boys joined us at the park.

The weather was actually nice with a cool breeze. A little glimpse of cooler weather to come, we hope!!

Katie's First 5K

KATIE'S FIRST 5K

We were so proud of Katie this morning as she competed in her very first road race. She ran the Susan Komen 5K Race for Cure at Disney's Wide World of Sports. She ran (RAN - NEVER WALKED) with her friend Casey from school and her mom, Dana. She ran so much faster than we expected that we didn't even have the camera ready when she came to the finish line. The bottom picture is Casey and Katie holding hands across the finish. You can see at time of 44:27 but you have to subtract 5 minutes because their race started 5 minutes later than the chipped competitors. So 39:27 is awesome for never running 3.2 miles. Katie loved it so much that she is planning on running the Celebration Founder's Day 5K next month. Once we get the professional picture from the finish, we will definitely post it!!!

Will Sleeps Through the Night

WILL SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT

Don't know if announcing this on the blog will jinx it, but Will slept through the night last night. I put him down at 9:00 and it is 5:30 and he is still sleeping like a baby (oh, I guess that is what he is supposed to do since he is a baby!!) Maybe this is my reward for a long week alone while Sean is in Scottsdale. He has been gone since Tuesday morning and it has been a hectic week with the kids schedules. Katie is running a 5K this morning for the Susan Komen Foundation for breast cancer. We will post pictures when we get back.

Andrew's football team is now 3 - 0. Andrew got to play alot yesterday and had 3 sacks, forced a fumble and caused a safety. He is hoping to earn a starting spot on defense next week. Matthew was the first in his class to reach the 100s club. He was able to count from 1 to 100 without missing a beat. He was very excited and is loving school.

Mom and William worked all week on smiling and today he finally caught on. Mom got tons of huge smiles, but could never catch one on camera. William is already 5 weeks old and his personality is starting to show. He has a fabulous smile that made Mom's heart melt. Pictures to come!!!

William had his first playdate today with my friend Heather's daughter, Carly. Carly is 10 weeks older than Will and looks so much like her older brothers, Justin and Chase. A bunch of girls met at Terri's for muffins and coffee. Terri watched Will for an hour for me!! Yeah, Terri. We are so lucky to have such a close knit group of friends in Celebration. Everyone helps everyone else out so willingly. In fact, I am still getting meals every other night since William was born!!!

Didn't realize until I downloaded the photos that William was giving me the peace sign. We have been working on getting him to smile. Got a little smirk (see the picture just to the left). His hair continues to stick straight up, but some is falling out and it is getting lighter. His eyes are still the slate blue color. I am still hoping they will be blue. He is such a precious boy!!

Labor Day Weekend

Andrew's football team won again on Saturday 18 - 0. Most of Saturday was spent at the football field (in the extreme heat!). Andrew caused a fumble and got alot of playing time. You can tell from the amount of bruises on Andrew's arms and legs.

Sean ventured to the beach on Sunday after Mass with Andrew, Katie, Matthew and Julia to give Mom a rest. They spent the day in New Smyrna with the Whitmire, Perez, Santry, McDonough, and Gourgues families. They had a blast with all their friends in the ocean, poolside and at the big sand football game. What a treat for Mom and Will to have some quiet time at home. Kudos to Dad for taking all 4 to the beach. Not an easy task!!!

Monday night we took the kids bowling. We have found it hard to do full family outings with William because of the hot weather - so bowling seemed like the perfect idea. We had a blast and Matthew bowled a 111 (with the bumpers!). Both Katie and Andrew did not like getting beat by their 5 year old brother. Julia rolled the PINK BALL down the lanes with Katie's help.
